what is riseup?

riseup is a worker-owned collective that has provided secure email, mailing lists and group collaboration tools to activists and movement organisers since 1999. it funds itself through donations, collects almost no personal data, and has a long institutional history of standing on the privacy side of every fight.

riseup operates several onion addresses for different parts of its infrastructure - the webmail interface has its own dedicated onion, separate from the main riseup.net site. because impostor addresses circulate widely, the collective asks users to verify each address from its canonical clearnet site before entering credentials anywhere.

below is the tracked address with live machine-reported status: our checker reaches it exclusively over the tor network, measures how long the webmail takes to answer, and keeps a rolling week of uptime history. a green badge means the login door answered on the latest probe.

before you trust any of this

  • .onion addresses are long on purpose. one wrong letter = someone else's server.
  • if a service matters to you, cross-check its address against its own clearnet site or PGP-signed announcements.
  • a green badge here means "reachable", never "trustworthy". we report reachability only.
